Handmade Japanese Nanbu Tetsubin, Unlined Cast Iron Water Kettle
This refined Hada style Tetsubin from Morioka, Japan is a wonderful size for daily use. The charcoal brown exterior has a relaxing citrus peel texture and a graduated base giving it added style. With a sturdy handle that is delightfully textured and a closed flower bud finial knob sitting atop the lid, your heated water will never taste better!
This Nanbu Tetsubin iron water kettle was crafted in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture, Japan and is marked by the artist under the spout.
**Note - the handle does NOT fold down.**
Traditional Japanese Tetsubin water kettles, including our Yūga are unlined meaning they do not have porcelain enamel linings or strainer baskets.
As you heat water, or infuse tea, a natural coating (or patina) will form to protect the interior of your cast iron water kettle. It is important your Tetsubin is allowed to fully air dry after each use. The Yūga is marked by the artist under the spout.
