Handmade Japanese Nanbu Tetsubin Unlined Cast Iron Water Kettle
This handmade Nanbu Tetsubin kettle is a modern example of understated elegance. The Mizu is charcoal black and features a dome shaped body with a flat base and a geometric knobbed lid. The sturdy, upright handle has subtle texturing and feels comfortable in the hand. With a great pour and stunning sophistication, this is a Japanese kettle for generations to treasure.
**Note - the handle does NOT fold down.**
Traditional Japanese Tetsubin water kettles, including our Mizu, are unlined meaning they do not have porcelain enamel linings and they do not include steel strainer baskets.
As you heat water, or infuse tea, a natural coating (or patina) will form to protect the interior of your cast iron water kettle. It is important your Tetsubin is allowed to fully air dry after each use. The Mizu is marked by the artist under the spout.
