Handmade Japanese Nanbu Tetsubin Unlined Cast Iron Water Kettle
This gorgeous, highly detailed Tetsubin design is inspired by the beauty of the spring season. Loads of raised cherry blossoms, leaves and buds are scattered around the exterior and lid of this handmade Nanbu water kettle. If you are searching for a kettle to add to your teaware collection that will delight and amaze every time you see, or use it, this is the one. The sturdy, upright handle has just a hint of texture and feels great in the hand. With a perfect pour and stunning beauty, this is a Japanese Tetsubin water kettle for generations to treasure.
This Nanbu Tetsubin iron water kettle was crafted in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture, Japan and is marked by the artist under the spout.
**Note - the handle does NOT fold down.**
Traditional Japanese Tetsubin water kettles, including our Haru, are unlined meaning they do not have porcelain enamel linings or strainer baskets.
As you heat water, or infuse tea, a natural coating (or patina) will form to protect the interior of your cast iron water kettle. It is important your Tetsubin is allowed to fully air dry after each use. The Haru is marked by the artist under the spout.
