Hands down, this is one of the most amazing, fabulous YiXing designs...EVER! Ms. Yin Qifen chose a fairly traditional subject of dragons, but created a completely unique and very fun teapot. The dark zisha clay is organically dynamic and the perfect foundation for a magnificent dragon as he curls around the teapot forming both the handle and the spout with a tiny little dragon perching on the lid. The details are extra fine and lend to the dignity of the overall design. The artist's chop marks appear on the base and inside the lid. The teapot will actually hold a bit more than the declared 18 ounce capacity, but water may spill from the extra generous spout so I recommend filling to about 3/4" from the top. $130.00 Add to cart! |

The smooth round body of this teapot is fabulously, and unexpectedly, juxtaposed with a clawed dragon splayed across the front. Tea is poured out his mouth as he hangs on, claws firmly dug in to keep him in place. Ms. Feng did a beautiful job of showcasing the awesome dragon while also taking great care to make the rest of the teapot warm and inviting. This chocolate brown teapot comes with an authenticity certificate. Ms. Feng Yao Feng, an YiXing Assistant Craft Master, began creating teapots at the age of 16 and went on to study with the great Master Li Chang Hong. Also by this artist "Bamboo Box".

Anyone familiar with YiXing Craft Master Da Zhou's work understands the intense effort and attention to detail that goes into each of his teapots. Dragons often play a key role and there are nine total displayed on the body of this pot. The main dragon bursts forth on one side surrounded by three dragons with teeth bared waiting to attack. On the opposing side five dragons battle with balls of fire, bodies intertwined in the roiling sea. The high quality golden yellow zisha clay gives an elegant, antique appearance with a rich feel and satiny soft smoothness. It reminds me of creamy butterscotch. Da Zhou's chop marks (artist's stamp) appear on the handle, inside the lid and on the base.

Teapots don't get much cuter than this one. The baby elephant is proudly perched on the parent elephant's back. Mom's, or Dad's, trunk becomes the spout while the tail curls back in to form the handle and four 'feet' support the duo. The details are fabulous, from the tusks to the ears. The inside of the lid and the base of the pot display the artist's chop marks (stamps).

This is such an impressive teapot. So much care and craftsmanship went into this design, you must see it to fully appreciate its beauty.
