Two majestic cranes, or 'tsuru', decorate
one side of this silver washed Tetsubin. They glide to the top
of a blossoming plum tree which is elegantly depicted on the
other side. Cranes have long symbolized longevity in Japan
and are often used to decorate gifts for birth, marriage and
annual events. Plum trees are also associated with long
life, because they bloom in winter, as well as 'new beginnings'.
