Understanding "Ounces" versus "Cups":
An actual "cup" of liquid is eight ounces.  However tea cups vary in size and it's a good idea to know the capacity of your favorite cups.  Most cups or mugs are somewhere around six to eight ounces so if a teapot holds 10 ounces, that will be enough for one to one-and-a-half cups.  Traditional Chinese and Japanese tea cups are much smaller than Westernized accessories, usually 1 - 4 ounces.

YiXing teapots are traditionally small so that the owner can brew tea and drink it right away, even directly from the spout!  More hot water is added to the same leaves until they no longer produce flavorful tea.  These teapots are perfect for gong fu tea drinking which is how the Chinese have enjoyed tea for centuries.  By placing a large amount of tea leaves in the little teapot, filling only partially with hot water and infusing for very short intervals, the true essence of the leaves is released and many infusions of ever changing aromas and nuances may be experienced.
